Against the backdrop of this potential lies the reality of 2-3 year planning approval processes; the success rates of which have been found to vary from 40% to 94% across Great Britain. As a result it has so far taken 14 years to develop an infrastructure of 1,550 on-shore turbines across 125 farms.
