European Wind Energy Conference 2008

Pager Power attended the 2008 European Wind Energy Conference in Brussels which was held between Monday 31st March and Thursday 3rd April 2008.
EWEC is the “Annual general meeting” for the international wind energy community, bringing together all the disciplines that affect the wind industry – business; policy; science; and technology – with an extensive exhibition of all the major players.
We were part of the “Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft – East of England” group stand organised by the Great Yarmouth Marketing Initiative.

Aviation Obstruction Simulation.
The majority of aviation objections to proposed wind farm developments in the UK are associated with the impact on radar installations at regional aerodromes. However, objections can also be raised due to the potential physical impact of wind turbines on flight operations. Physical obstructions such as proposed wind farm developments are managed using a system of physical safeguarding of protected surfaces around aerodromes and collision risk assessments. These full assessments usually apply to larger licensed aerodromes, but the main concern for smaller airfields is generally the physical obstruction to aerial navigation. Pager Power has a flight simulator which allows realistic simulation of aircraft flights throughout Britain. Proposed wind farms can be added to the simulator so that pilots can experience a proposed wind farm before it is built. The simulator can be used as a planning tool allowing various layouts to be trialed so that aviation impact can be reduced.

BWEA 29 Glasgow Conference 2007.
Pager Power recently exhibited at the BWEA 29 exhibition and conference in Glasgow. This event has proven to be the best social networking oportunity in the anual calander over recent years, and this years exhibition proved to be no exception.
Pager Power Ltd were located at stand 77 in the exhibition hall.
BWEA 29 Sailing Regatta 2007.
Pager Power recently took part in the BWEA 29 Sailing Regatta which was held in the Solent, off the coast of Portsmouth. The event this year had 56 identical boats taking part that make up the Sunsail fleet (Sunfast 37's). Competing companies ranged from every corner of the wind industry, and the pre-race build up provided an excellent networking oportunity, putting faces to names and meeting old friends.
Below are a few photographs taken from the BWEA support rib photographer.

Pager Power recently exhibited at the All-Energy'07 Exhibition & Conference.
The Pager Power team recently attended the “All-Energy 2007” exhibition and conference on 23-24th May in Aberdeen. This was an excellent event and a great opportunity for networking with clients and potential new customers alike. The other exhibitors represented a diverse array of services within the Energy sector, and the variety of displays on show made for a very interesting walk around the exhibition hall.
The Pager Power stand in the conference hall proved to be a big success which was very well received by our team. On reflection the “All-Energy 2007” exhibition and conference was definitely one of our most rewarding and worthwhile calendar events for 2007, with an enjoyable and very social atmosphere. We at Pager Power are already planning our stand for 2008!

Pager Power Goes Global
Mike Watson of Pager Power presents in Adelaide at GLOBALWINDPOWER 2006 , the world’s premier wind energy event 18-21 September 2006
Mike Watson introduced Pager Power to the international wind energy capital, Adelaide, presenting Pager Power’s services and unique software that has been specifically designed to help wind energy providers overcome the obstacles they face in developing sites.
Currently, all Pager Power revenue emanates from the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. However, the company envisages an increase its global footprint with a network of distributive alliances in selected markets.
GlobalWindpower 2006 was the first step in contacting overseas candidates, who might deliver synergies between Pager Power’s technical capabilities and the candidates’ own relationship network with domestic wind farm developers and energy companies.
Hosting the event in Adelaide highlights Australia’s recent approval of plans that would give the country the third highest percentage of installed wind energy capacity in the world.
International manufacturers and investors are attracted to Australia as a location for wind energy development due to the export opportunities throughout the Asia Pacific Region. CEO of joint sponsors Auswind Ms Dominique La Fontaine, said,
“Australia is renowned for its strong and consistent wind resources. Approximately half of Australia’s wind energy capacity is currently located in South Australia, where almost 10% of the state’s energy supply comes from wind power alone.”
“Combined with the impending opportunities expected from the new Asia-Pacific Partnership for Clean Development and Climate, Australia is in a unique position to expand the wind energy industry throughout the Asia-Pacific region,” she said.
